About the Department
The Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering was started in the academic year 1998 with the AICTE approval for the intake of 60 students under the affiliation of Anna University, Chennai. In the span of 15 years, the department has procured equipments for 11 laboratories and established 7 laboratories. The department has a good record of research scholars with Ph.D., holder and four staff members are pursuing doctorates. The department organized various National conferences, Symposia and executed project works from the government as well as private agencies. It has signed an MoU with National Instruments, Bangalore during the year 2010. An amount of Rs. 17 Lakhs was spent to set up the NI LabVIEW Academy School. Activities like training programme, competitions, project works, research oriented project works, faculty development programme are being conducted in combination with National Instruments both for students and members of faculty. The department has produced CLAD Certified Engineers and encouraged more number of students and the members of faculty to aim for it.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)

Engineering Graduates will be able to
Engineering knowledge:Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to the solution of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering problems.
Problem analysis:Identify, formulate, research literature and analyze complex engineering problems reaching, substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences.
Design/development of solutions:Design solutions for problems in the field of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety and the cultural, societal and environmental considerations.
Conduct investigations of complex problems:Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
Modern tool usage:Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
The engineer and society:Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
